In a small, underdeveloped town, young boys are intensely trained for battle, while the town’s upper class congregates in a billiard room, fabricating grandiose life stories. Meanwhile, groups of boys entertain themselves with violent brawls on neglected, empty lots. A striking element of postwar youth was the presence of pigeons, which were often traded or taken. One day, a stunning white dove flew over the town. Ivan, risking his safety, managed to capture it, instantly drawing the attention of the “pigeon” underworld.
