
The Bengali Night
In 1930s Calcutta, Allan, portrayed by Hugh Grant, is an engineer who receives an invitation to reside with his employer, Narendra Sen, played by Soumitra Chatterjee. The household also consists of Narendra’s wife, Indira, depicted by Shabana Azmi, and their daughter, Gayatri, played by Supriya Pathak. A romantic relationship develops between Gayatri and Allan, ultimately resulting in a tragic outcome.
