The Auschwitz Report
This film recounts the true story of Freddy and Walter, two young Jewish men from Slovakia who were sent to Auschwitz in 1942. On April 10, 1944, after careful preparation and with the support and determination of their fellow prisoners, they successfully escape. As the inmates they left behind bravely confront the Nazi guards, Freddy and Walter are fueled by the hope that their testimony might save lives. Exhausted and injured, they traverse the mountains to return to Slovakia. Through a series of fortuitous encounters, they eventually cross the border and connect with the resistance and The Red Cross. They document a comprehensive report on the systematic extermination occurring at the camp. However, due to ongoing Nazi propaganda and international alliances, their story appears too shocking to be believed.
