Paulie

Paulie, a clever parrot capable of speech, shares his tale of hardship with a Russian immigrant janitor at the research facility where he is kept and overlooked. His journey starts years earlier when he is presented as a gift to a young girl with a stutter. Paulie helps her overcome her speech impediment, but her father, thinking she can’t separate fantasy from reality due to her belief in the talking bird, takes him away. Paulie then embarks on a series of escapades involving a pawn shop owner, an elderly widow, a Mexican-American musician, and an aspiring thief, before ending up at the institute where he currently resides.
