Padre Padrone

Set in the rural landscape of Sardinia, this film follows the life of Gavino Ledda, a young shepherd who is forced to abandon his education to work under the harsh rule of his domineering father. As Gavino grows, he struggles to break free from his father’s control and pursue his own path, ultimately seeking education and self-discovery. Directed by Paolo Taviani, the film is a poignant exploration of familial bonds and personal liberation. It won the prestigious Palme d’Or at the 1977 Cannes Film Festival.
