Beyond the Limits

Aspiring journalist Vivian approaches Frederick, the caretaker of the oldest cemetery in an unspecified country, seeking an interview. Frederick recounts the tale of two “clients” linked by a mysterious secret. Notorious gangster Jimmie Levinson accuses his former associate, Paul Pattuchi, of stealing a shipment of cocaine and orders the murder of Paul’s beloved girlfriend, Clarice. Paul is later discovered dead in a cottage. During a dinner party, Jimmie and his companions are visited first by Robert Downing, and then by the sadistic Mortimer and his partner Rick, who are in search of the truth about Paul and a suitcase containing a mysterious relic. The second narrative unfolds in the Middle Ages, where the ruthless David Deming and his henchman Tom Brewster pursue the defiant priest James Flynn on behalf of the Inquisition, but their true aim is to extract the secret of the Eternal Heart from him to achieve immortality.
