On his twelfth birthday, Skeet receives his first surfboard from his older brother Randy, sparking a summer filled with an endless quest for the ideal wave, exciting escapades, and beach parties. As Randy becomes preoccupied with a new romantic interest, Skeet embarks on his own thrilling adventures. Unexpectedly, he is mentored by surfing icon Jim Wesley, who teaches him the art of hot-dogging. Meanwhile, Randy struggles with their father’s passing and the pressure to step into his role, feeling envious of Jim’s growing influence on Skeet. His jealousy intensifies when Jim starts dating their single mother. Caught in the tension between his brother and his new mentor, Skeet withdraws to his room, yearning to return to the waves.
